CHICAGO, June 19, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Eileen Campbell (former Global CEO of Millward Brown) and siblings Jennifer and Andrew Reid (Founder of Vision Critical) have partnered to create Reid Campbell Group, a new holding company that serves as a launch pad for innovation in consumer insights. The newly formed group also announces the launch of their first two companies; insight technology innovator, Rival Technologies and full-service research agency, Reach3 Insights. Reid Campbell Group, Rival Technologies and Reach3 Insights are poised to lead the next wave of market research innovation for the world’s top brands.

Using conversational, mobile-first techniques that consumers use in their everyday lives, Reid Campbell Group companies are particularly focused on integrating the opinions of young and multicultural consumers whose voices often go unheard in traditional market research.

“Research and insights are so fundamental to business success, yet the function is often saddled with a stodgy reputation because we’ve been a bit slow to evolve,” states Founding Partner & Executive Chair of Reid Campbell Group Eileen Campbell. “We need to reflect the rapidly changing communication methods consumers use today to deliver meaningful business results. We are determined to do just that.”

Reid Campbell Group’s first two companies set the tone for the changes to come. Rival Technologies, led by the Founder of Vision Critical and VC Labs, Andrew Reid, is North America’s first company to use conversational chat to gather valuable insights from our ‘Mobile First’ generation. Over time, this technology offers a more personal and consistent way to connect with customers than traditional “ask and answer” questionnaires.

“The more we can mirror human conversations in our contact with customers, the more likely it is that they will provide deep and honest insights,” comments Founding Partner of Reid Campbell Group & CEO of Rival Technologies Andrew Reid.

Reach3 Insights is led by one of North America’s top consumer market researchers, former Ipsos and Vision Critical executive Matt Kleinschmit. Kleinschmit is known for designing and implementing strategic insight platforms for some of the world’s most formidable brands. Accelerated by Rival’s modern technology, Reach3 works on behalf of brands to capture ongoing insights using conversational and other immersive experiences, intelligent analytics and game-changing, storytelling deliverables.

“At the dawn of the millennium, marketing research moved online. In the 2000’s it evolved into online communities & interactive tools. We believe that we are now entering the 3rd wave of modern marketing research, characterized by agile, organic and immersive conversational insights captured at scale through the mediums used by the digital generation,” explains Reach3 Insights Founder & CEO Matt Kleinschmit.

Both Rival Technologies and Reach3 Insights launch with an impressive list of early adopter customers, including Warner Brothers and the NFL. Rival Technologies will continue to enhance their technology and platform to meet expanding client needs, with a full slate of additional enhancements in development. Reach3 Insights will continue to scale to meet the needs of global clients who are seeking more immersive and engaging insights solutions to drive business success.

WhatsApp Group Calling Now Rolling Out to Select Android Beta, iOS Users

WhatsApp Group Calling Now Rolling Out to Select Android Beta, iOS Users

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Few WhatsApp for iOS 2.18.52 users have received group video calling
  • Same goes for very few Android beta version 2.18.145 and above users
  • A new Add participant button shows up in WhatsApp video call

At the F8 keynote, it was announced that the Facebook-owned WhatsApp is getting the group calling feature soon. Now, a few users are reporting that they are seeing the feature in their Android and iOS app, and are able to use it. Mind you, very few users are reporting this update, and it doesn’t mean that the official roll out has begun. WhatsApp is the biggest messaging app in the world, with over a billion active users globally.

WABetaInfo reports that few users on WhatsApp iOS version 2.18.52 and Android beta version 2.18.145 and above can see group video calling activated. This feature is not officially rolled out yet, and it does not work on the invitation system either. Users just have to be very lucky to see this feature, and WhatsApp seems to have randomly picked a segment of users to test this feature with. In any case, this does mean that the group calling feature is coming to WhatsApp Android and iOS real soon.

For all those lucky users who have it, they now see an Add Participant icon on the top right window after making a video call to one person. Clicking on that icon allows you to add up to three more people to the video call. The screen then splits into four halves for a proper group video call.

WhatsApp has rolled out the new iOS version 2.18.52 to all users, and you can check for an update on the App Store. After updating the app, you can go ahead and see if you have the video calling feature activated or not by following the above mentioned method. If you do see it, then let us know your first impressions in the comment section below!

MakeMyTrip’s Acquisition of Ibibo Group Gets CCI’s Nod

MakeMyTrip's Acquisition of Ibibo Group Gets CCI's Nod

HIGHLIGHTS

  • MakeMyTrip and Ibibo announced merger last year in October
  • CCI has approved the acquisition of Ibibo group by MakeMyTrip
  • This will bring redBus, goibibo, Ryde under MakeMyTrip’s group

Fair trade regulator CCI has approved online travel portal MakeMyTrip’s proposed acquisition of rival Ibibo group in an equity deal that would create one of the country’s largest online travel firm.

As per the deal announced in October last year, South Africa’s Naspers and China’s Tencent Holdings would sell Ibibo Group to MakeMyTrip in exchange for an issuance of new shares by the latter.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the deal, as per the latest update on the regulator’s website.

Post completion of the transaction, MakeMyTrip would own 100 percent of Ibibo Group, and Naspers and Tencent will become largest shareholder in MakeMyTrip, owning a 40 percent stake and will contribute proportionate working capital, MakeMyTrip had announced in October last year.

Additionally, prior to closing, a $180 million (roughly Rs. 1,210 crores), 5-year convertible notes issued by MakeMyTrip to Ctrip.com International Ltd in January 2016 will also be converted into common equity, resulting in Ctrip having an approximately 10 percent stake in the combined entity, it had said.

The combination will bring together a bouquet of consumer travel brands, including MakeMyTrip, goibibo, redBus, Ryde and Rightstay, which together processed 34.1 mm transactions during FY 2016.

MakeMyTrip Founder Deep Kalra will remain Group CEO and Executive Chairman of the company and Co-founder Rajesh Magow will continue to remain CEO India of MakeMyTrip.

Founder and CEO of Ibibo Group, Ashish Kashyap, will join MakeMyTrip’s executive team as a Co-founder and President of the organisation, the company had said.

Mergers and acquisitions beyond a certain threshold requires approval from Competition Commission of India (CCI).
