New Delhi: The HRD ministry on Thursday stated IITs have been requested to offer Sanskrit as an non-obligatory situation or as a language path for college kids who wish to have a look at it.

In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Human useful resource improvement (HRD) minister Smriti Irani stated a committee headed by former CEC N Gopalaswami, had cautioned that IITs may additionallyfacilitate take a look at of technology and generation as reflected in Sanskrit literature, in conjunction with inter-disciplinary look at of Sanskrit and contemporary subjects.

“In consonance with the suggestions, IITs were asked to offer Sanskrit as an elective challenge or as a language route for college students who wish to observe the language,” Irani stated.

Responding to another query related to IITs, Irani said although 2,463 teaching positions in thoseinstitutes had been vacant as on 1 September 2015, studies students, contract adjunct and touringfaculty more than adequately compensated for these.
