Bengaluru: Online rental marketplace start-up Rentomojo operated by Edunetwork Pvt. Ltd on Wednesday named Munjal Dhamecha as its chief technology officer (CTO). Dhamecha was previously CTO at house rental listing portal Grabhouse.

Started in 2014, Rentomojo allows users in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Pune to rent furniture, utilities and motorbikes on a subscription basis and has raised $2 million in funding from Accel Partners and IDG Ventures India. In this space, it competes with companies like Furlenco (which raised $6 million) and RentSetGo.

Currently, Rentomojo has about 4,500 active subscribers. “We want to grow this base to about ten times by next year,” chief executive officer Geetansh Bamania said over the phone.

Dhamecha has 11 years of experience working with companies like JustDial and Reliance Communications. The 130-member firm did not have a CTO so far.

The start-up wants to roll out a mobile app for consumers by the end of February to enhance user experience with respect to payments and plans to expand to newer verticals like clothes rentals in the coming year.
