In many regions across India, access to quality and holistic education has proven to be one of the most powerful tools for transforming underserved communities. When students are provided with meaningful learning opportunities and reliable educational resources, it strengthens their academic foundation and supports the long-term growth of the region.
For rural and semi-urban communities especially, creating a supportive education ecosystem requires multiple initiatives. These include access to books, digital learning resources, mentoring systems, and platforms that encourage curiosity and continuous learning. Among these efforts, improving access to knowledge through digital resources has become a key priority.
A significant step in this direction has been taken in Benaulim constituency in Goa, where a comprehensive E-Library platform for school students has been launched by the Hon. MLA.
Digital Library Initiative Launched in Benaulim
Honourable MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas launched the E-Library initiative using the MLA Local Area Development (LAD) Fund. The project aims to enhance digital learning opportunities for government school students throughout the constituency.
The initiative is being implemented with the support of iDream Education, which is serving as the technology and implementation partner. Through this collaboration, students and teachers now gain access to more than 10,000 digital books and educational resources via the iPrep Digital Library platform.
Inauguration of the E-Library Program
The digital library initiative was officially inaugurated in the presence of Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Smt. Atishi, and respected members of the Zila Parishad. The event marked an important milestone in expanding digital learning access for students studying in government schools across the Benaulim constituency.
During the first phase of the program, the digital library has already been introduced in five schools, enabling 1,904 students to access a vast collection of digital books, animated learning content, and educational materials.
This initiative provides students with structured learning resources that support both academic study and independent exploration. By offering modern digital learning tools, the project ensures that students in government schools receive access to educational resources comparable to those available in more privileged institutions.
Expansion Plans for the Digital Library
Following the success of the initial rollout, the project aims to expand the e-library platform to all schools across the Benaulim constituency in the next phase.
Once fully implemented, the initiative is expected to benefit approximately 4,500 students, ensuring that every student in the region has equal access to quality digital learning resources.
The broader goal of this initiative is to promote a technology-driven transformation in education. By offering structured, curriculum-aligned digital content, the platform encourages students to explore knowledge beyond textbooks while strengthening their understanding of core subjects and developing a habit of reading.
Accessing the iPrep Digital Library
To make the system easy and secure for students, each student receives a personalized access card with a unique login ID and password.
This allows them to log in to the iPrep Digital Library platform and explore educational resources both within school and from home. The system supports flexible learning and ensures students can continue their studies outside classroom hours.
The digital library has been carefully designed to support academic learning while also promoting curiosity, creativity, and personal development.

Positive Response from Teachers and Education Leaders
The e-library initiative received an enthusiastic response from teachers and education leaders during the launch event.
Teachers expressed appreciation for the organized digital platform and the wide variety of learning resources available. Many noted that the digital collection of books, reference materials, and exam preparation content will significantly support students in strengthening subject concepts and building consistent reading habits.
During the launch ceremony, Shri Arvind Kejriwal highlighted the importance of making quality learning materials accessible to all students.
He emphasized that preparation resources for competitive examinations are often expensive and inaccessible for many families. Initiatives like the digital library help bridge this gap by providing structured learning resources directly within the school system.
The Importance of Strengthening Digital Learning Ecosystems
Modern schools are expected to offer far more than traditional textbooks. Today’s education systems require:
Curriculum-aligned digital learning content
Easy-to-use teaching platforms
Continuous access to books and learning resources
Teachers benefit from digital tools that help them explain concepts effectively and guide students beyond rote memorization.
At the same time, students need regular access to reading materials, revision tools, and interactive learning resources that allow them to deepen their understanding both inside and outside the classroom.
This need is particularly important in Tier-2, Tier-3, and rural areas, where access to quality educational resources has historically been limited.
Digital libraries help bridge these gaps by ensuring students have reliable access to structured knowledge resources that support their academic progress and future aspirations.
Investing in Students Builds India’s Future
Across many parts of India, thousands of students continue their education with limited learning resources. Many lack consistent access to books, reference materials, or supplementary educational content that could broaden their knowledge and opportunities.
Among these students are future professionals who may go on to compete in national examinations, pursue higher education, or contribute to the development of their communities.
While infrastructure projects like roads and buildings are visible indicators of development, the true long-term strength of a nation lies in how well it prepares its students for the future.
Initiatives such as digital libraries play an important role in building this foundation by providing students with meaningful access to knowledge that supports both academic success and lifelong learning.
Encouraging Digital Library Initiatives Across Schools in India
Education leaders, policymakers, and institutions across India can consider implementing similar digital library programs in schools.
Such platforms can serve as a centralized knowledge hub, offering students easy access to curriculum-aligned books, reference materials, and supplementary learning content.
By strengthening digital learning ecosystems, these initiatives can ensure that every student—regardless of background—has the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.
