Saying Goodbye to Summer 2025: A Season’s End The day has finally come to say goodbye to summer and hello to fall. While I wipe away my tears, please hold. Summer, however, must come to an end, just like all good things. This summer was unlike previous ones. Sure, I spent plenty of time at the beach, fit in my favorite workouts in the Hamptons, and made it to some fun events—the usual highlights of the season. But in many ways, it felt like an entirely new kind of summer.
I switched from riding boots to boat shoes this year and took a brief break from the barn. Instead of spending my days in the saddle, I spent more time on the water, honing my sailing skills and tackling new challenges on the boat. Even though I have experience sailing, this season forced me to improve my technique, learn from experienced sailors, and gain confidence in navigating various conditions (and boat sizes). The process came with its share of challenges, but that’s what made it so rewarding.
Not only did I get to deepen my experience on the water, but I also met new people, took in Long Island from an entirely different perspective, and discovered the unique freedom—and humility—of working with the wind and waves.
So while I’ll miss the sun-soaked days of summer, I’m grateful for the memories this one gave me. Fall may be just beginning, but the lessons and fresh perspective from summer 2025 will carry me through the seasons ahead.
I can’t help but notice how neatly the sailing season ended alongside summer itself as the last warm days pass. My time on the water and the season that shaped it both came to a natural close, almost like the waves carrying one chapter out to sea and ushering in another. Just as summer made way for fall, I’ll tuck away the sails for now—content with what I learned and eager to see where the next season takes me.
