Redmi Note 8 Pro launch date in India

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 8 in India at a starting price of Rs 7,999. Towards the end of the launch announcement, the company also revealed that it will bring its “64MP quad camera beast” to India a week from now on Wednesday, October 16. For those wondering, this is the Redmi Note 8 Pro that was first unveiled in China in August. The Redmi Note 8 Pro features a 64MP quad camera setup and is powered by a MediaTek Helio G90T SoC.

It seems Xiaomi had a change of heart. The company was earlier planning to launch the Redmi Note 8 Pro only after Diwali. However, the Redmi Note 8 Pro will now go official in India next week, allowing the company to release the smartphone during the ongoing festive season. Xiaomi sold a total of 5.3 million devices during the Diwali With Mi sale, and the company is expected to increase its sales figures by the end of the month with the launch of the Redmi 8 and Redmi Note 8.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is Xiaomi’s first smartphone to feature a 64MP quad camera setup using Samsung’s GW1 sensor. When it launches in India, it will compete against the Realme XT which is also a 64MP quad camera smartphone. The Realme XT (Review) was launched in India starting at Rs 15,999. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is also expected to launch around the same price as it is available in China starting at 1399 Yuan (approx Rs 14,000).

Redmi Note 8 Pro sports a 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD display with a waterdrop notch and a 91.94 per cent screen-to-body ratio. The smartphone gets a curved Gorilla Glass 5 panel on the back much like the Realme XT.

It is powered by a new 2GHz MediaTek Helio G90T processor that comes equipped with a Mali G76 GPU. In China, the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone houses a 4,500mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging.

The highlight of the Redmi Note 8 Pro is its 64MP quad camera system. This includes a 64-megapixel Samsung GW1 primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, the Redmi Note 8 Pro gets a 20MP selfie camera.
